Hello hello hello?
I've realized that there's a bit of a feedback loop going. I feel like the number of people still readng this journal has declined in the last year or two, and that's made me less inclined to devote energy to putting together essays to post. This, of course, makes people less inclined to keep an eye out for my writing.
On the other hand, there's another explanation: maybe the little stuff I've posted has just been less interesting than I thought, and's that's why it hasn't provoked much in the way of comments.
So: Let me know. Are you still reading here? Is there a forum you like better? Should I be posting on Google+ or my own website instead? Or also? Don't be shy.

I'm reading here, would be unlikely to follow to G+.

Don't write on LJ or anywhere else for comments because you are likely to be disappointed. Write because you want to, because it is a good outlet for you. If you can track hits as I can for The Chocolate Cult you can see that folks are reading even if they are too afraid to comment or too busy to reply or simply can't think of what to say.

This. And here.

My ego, outsized though it is, wasn't my prime motivator here. The discussion following some of my posts, especially those about fat politics, were very exciting and illuminating for me. I was kind of kicking myself for having squandered that momentum with so much radio silence.
I love me some eyeballs, but I love a good thoughtful argument even more.

You can never tell what will set people off on a discussion.
My most discussed post on LJ was about ketchup! While when I do a very important video interview on the Chocolate Cult I barely get anything.
It is very annoying but as with teaching I've tried to realize that it isn't really about me, it's about those reading or the students. I can't control what goes on inside of them and since I'm grading anyone on my LJ I can't even use a stick to generate comments.

I'm still here. I still like LJ for personal stuff. I'm going to transfer my professional LJ over to another blog platform because there has been an absolute spam infestation over there.

Still here. I don't always post comments, because I don't always understand what you've said. Over my head. But I don't do G+... yet.

Well, I read here.
I have G+, am even subscribed to various people--but I find I don't go there often. I don't find the stuff that's there compelling enough on a regular basis to drop one of the things I already do.

Hello hello! Still reading. Wouldn't follow to G+.

I read here somewhat more reliably than I read G+, but I don't comment very reliably on either.

I totally read here, both LJ-native content and anything I can syndicate in with RSS.

Still here, still reading, even if I am often quiet.
Tue, Feb. 7th, 2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
I read here via G+, and would continue to do so if it was only G+.

This begs the question of whether you're
still reading here, doesn't it?
